As Maria cares for her dynamic mother, Muriel, we explore the turbulent lives of three generations of artists living in the same building in the East village for over 50 years — from the unpaved red-lined desolation of the 70’s through its current gentrification. The Art of Leaving is a humorous and hopeful portrait of a family living through loss and renewal.
